The Root of Poverty

NJO Foundation Africa continues to contribute significantly to the reduction of poverty. Their efforts are rewarded by the community's heart warming smiles and sincerity, considering their zeal to ensure every individual's hope and dreams for a better life are fulfilled. These needs are met through the establishment of various events, such as: Reaching out to senior citizens, distribution of meals to the needy, donation drives for back to school supplies, child sponsorship, and much more to come in the future.

Philippians 2:3-5 NIV

[3] Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, [4] not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. [5] In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

Surely, mankind has grown cold to one another. This day and age is filled with selfishness and greed, inconsideration for each other wherein we become too comfortable to be bothered to bless someone else in their own discomfort; this is the true root of poverty, SIN [lawlessness].

Matthew 24:12 NKJV

[12] And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold

Our coldness of heart has caused a segregation, and this segregation bears fruit to the issues of poverty we see all around us, which are common driving factors, such as: conflict, economic inequality, lack of education, lack of infrastructure and more.

Matthew 15:19 NKJV

[19] For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

But unity is the key fruit of Love, which we may know to be the act of putting all hate and malice, selfishness and jealousy etc, towards one another behind us whether directly or indirectly, to achieve peace; but surely I tell you, that this can only be functional not under the unity of this world, but under the unity of Christ Jesus, and in Him no darkness, wickedness or segregation is found, but Love.

In Uganda, and many other places globally, the plague of poverty is evident to us, but no amount of our human efforts and wisdom will ever be the solution, if we truly had a solution as a forward advancing race, surely we wouldn't still be seeing the problem; we can lessen the effect of the problem, but still that doesn't make it the solution.

Poverty runs rampant throughout the world because we have strayed from, and have failed to continue to observe a core principle given to humanity, the community. It's often said that ittakes a village to raise a child which shows a general care and concern for everyone, from everyone within the village. We have strayed from that core principle and have developed a “to-each-his-own” mindset, where everyone only cares about their own house, their own kids, and their own lives, disregarding those right next door who may be suffering from want.

But the answers to how we can truly solve this problem as one race, is unifying ourselves in God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but unless we can be able to humble ourselves, acknowledge our creator that exists, and renew our minds and hearts to Him, we will remain lacking the solution to this problem, and sadly many other widespread issues going on today, which is the fruit of this said poverty.

Ephesians 4:20-32 NIV

[20] That, however, is not the way of life you learned [21] when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. [22] You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; [23] to be made new in the attitude of your minds; [24] and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. [25] Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. [26] “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, [27] and do not give the devil a foothold. [28] Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. [29] Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. [30] And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. [31] Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. [32] Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
